Maksim Amelin
A poet, translator, essayist. His poetry, articles and essays were published in such journals as “Grani” (The Edges), “Novy mir” (The New World) , “Znamya” (The Banner), “Oktyabr’” (The October), “Arion”, “Voprosy literature”(The questions of literature) and many others.
He is the author of poems “Holodnye ody” (The frozen odes) (1996), “Dubia” (1999), “Kon’ Gorgony” (The Gorgone Horse) (2003), the collected edition of poems, articles and essays “Gnytaya rech” (“The curved speech”) (2011). He has a book published in bilingual version of his poetry in the USA.
Maksim Amelin is a translator from Ancient Greek language (Pindar), Latin (Catullus, “Carmina Priapea”), Italian (Antonio Vivaldi), Georgian (Nicoloz Baratashvili, contemporary poets), Ukrainian (Vasyl Mahno) and others.
Maksim Amelin’s poems were translated more than 14 languages.
Since 1998 he has become a laureate of a number of different Russian national awards:
- the diploma winner of national award “Kniga goda” (The best book of the year) (2004 and 2011) in the nomination “Poet goda” (The best poet of the year);
- the laureate of the award “Chelovek knigi 2011” (The book person 2011) in the nomination “Redaktor goda” (The best editor of the year).
His book “Gnytaya rech” (The curved speech) became the laureate of “Moskovskiy schet” (The Moscow count” in the different nominations.
Anna Shulgat
A specialist in drama study, translator. Anna was born in Saint-Petersburg. In 1998 graduated the Saint-Petersburg Theatre Academy the faculty of drama studies. From 1998 to 2003 worked as an academic secretary in St.Petersburg State Museum of Theatre and Music. She is a freelance artist, translator and theatre critic since 2003. In 2006 she became a scholar of the Fulbright Program and became a PhD student in the New York University, where she continued studding the English and American theatre. She is collaborating with scientific journal “Slavic and East European Performance” (New York). Her articles and interviews were published in St. Petersburg and Moscow newspapers, magazines “Vsemirnoye slovo” (The universal word), “Piterbook”, “Teatralniy Peterburg” (Theatre Peterburg), “Audio Magazin” (Audio Shop), “Nevsky albom”, “Autobus” and several scientific journals and books. Her prose and poetry translations were published by following publishing houses “Azbuka”, “Raduga”, “Vita Nova”, “Scarecrow Press” (USA). Among her published translations there are Diana Wynne Jones “Charmed Life”, Jay Rubin “Haruki Murakami and the Music of Words”, Laura Shaine Cunningham “Beautiful Bodies” (the play under the same titleis going in the several Russian theatres); the second part of Daniel Defoe “Robinson Crusoe”, Christopher Fowler “The Water Room”.
Dmitriev Andrei
Writer and scriptwriter. He was born in 1956 in Leningrad. Studied at the Lomonosov Moscow State University the faculty of philology, where he studied ancient Russian Literature, but he didn’t graduate it and entered The Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography – VGIK in the script writing department and graduated it in 1982. He is the author and co-author of scripts of following films: “The Invisible Man”, “Radosty srednego vozrasta”.
Michael Yasnov
A poet, translator and children writer. He was born in 1946 in Leningrad. Michael Yasnov is the author of seven books of lyrics and plenty of translations of West Europe poetry mostly French and lots of books of prose and poems for children. He is a laureate of Russian and international literature awards.
